The Humminbird 899ci SI HD is another great offering from the brand and entirely worthy of Humminbird’s legacy. It comes in with a great sized screen, an amazing amount of power, and plenty of Humminbird’s advanced sonar readings to make for a fish finder that will meet the needs of almost any fisherman.
The display here comes in at a full seven inches with an impressive 800×450 resolution as well as full color. It’s large and easy to read, so even fishing fans with a bit of an eyesight problem will be able to easily read it. It also has an LED backlight, so you can get your information no matter the conditions. You can also split the screen and take advantage of the multiple sonar views at the same time, giving you a complete view of the information.

The 899ci SI HD comes in with a number of options as well as featuring 8000W peak-to-peak power. With this unit at your side you’ll find that you can read down to 3000’ with the purchase of the deep sea transducer, and even without it you’ll be able to obtain accurate information down to 1500’, making this finder suited for almost any marine usage.
The standard sonar on the unit uses a dual-frequency cone of 83/200 kHz allowing for a total of 60° of viewing. The high clarity uses the display to great advantage and allows for a crystal clear, highly accurate view.
The 455 kHz side imaging reaches down to 150’ as well, allowing for a 180° view directly beneath your vessel. Humminbird’s Side Imaging technology makes a great addition to the standard readings and with the split screen capabilities you’ll be able to read both at once and maximize the use of the fish finder.
Finder Rating: 9/10
The 899ci SI HD also comes with a powerful GPS system. It comes pre-loaded with Contour XD Maps, so you’ll be able to easily find your way to and from your favorite spots.
One of the cooler features is that it links with i-Pilot, allowing for control of certain trolling motors remotely from the finder and takes some of the effort out of you piloting your craft.
As an extra bonus, it also comes with an Ethernet connection, so you can connect your finder to a network and other devices if you want to upgrade your mapping system or new updates come out.

Ease of Use
This finder is easy to navigate and use like most of Humminbird Fish Finders. The menu system allows for you to easily access those options which you’ll commonly be using and can keep novices from accidentally messing with the readings in the advanced options.
There is one thing to keep in mind, though, even though the finder only has a 7” screen, it is 12” long so you’ll want to make sure that you have the room for it before you make the investment.
Ease of Use Rating: 8/10
This is a fantastic unit, especially for marine fishermen. It has all the bells and whistles, complete finding capabilities and a great GPS. Once you add in the large, easily readable screen as well you have something which is suited for almost any fisherman, and if you have the room on your boat you’ll soon find your investment paying off massive dividends on your journeys.
